Why Modbase?
The manifesto behind a platform built to restore simplicity, speed, and creator ownership to Minecraft mods and resource packs.
The Origin
Modbase was born from frustration with the bloated state of the gaming and modding web. Over the years, platforms that should have been straightforward directories turned into heavy, ad-ridden ecosystems with artificial download timers, clickbait redirects, and intrusive tracking.
We built a clean, focused environment where both code (Mods) and art (Resource Packs) take center stage — without gatekeeping, paywalls, or artificial friction.
Our Principles
No advertising banners, cookie banners, tracking popups or bloated sidebars.
Built on native PHP 8, GarCSS and SQLite in WAL mode, delivering sub-millisecond responses without heavy JS runtime bundles.
Automatic inspection for Mods (Fabric, Quilt, NeoForge, Forge) and Resource Packs (pack.mcmeta), extracting metadata and icons on upload.
Publicly cataloged projects are clearly marked and credit original authors. Creators can claim and verify their profiles at any time via validation tokens.
Direct binary access with one click or automatic redirection to the author’s official upstream repository.
Clean endpoints ready for launchers, CLI utilities and automated community tools.
Technical Architecture
Modbase refuses heavy runtime dependencies and unnecessary layers. The entire platform operates on an efficient stack: modern Nginx with HTTP/3 QUIC, strictly-typed PHP 8.2+, SQLite with WAL journaling, and the minimalist GarCSS design system.
